# Thread: Find the value of 2 terms in the simultaneous equation

You have misunderstood the type of question being asked in this thread. The initial reply assumed (quite reasonably) that the values of mu and lambda for which the system has an infinite number of solutions was required.

This question is incomplete. What is meant to happen with these equations? Do you want:

Infinite solutions? Unique solution? No solution?

Well, you have been told the values when there are an infinite number of solutions. I believe that with a little thought there is more than enough given in this thread to address the question of when there is a unique solution ....

I need to study this and i dont have any books reagrding this , i need ur guidance to search for sites which provide with the document to learn this on the web

Ask whoever is giving you these questions to provide reference material. (If you're being asked to answer questions like this I find it hard to believe you would have no notes or reference material on it).

I am trying to complete my graduation through correspondance and these are question from the last year paper which i am trying to solve , I dont have nay notes and dont have the money to go for classes .

These sorts of questions test your understanding of systems of linear equations. You can't just use Google and get pages telling you about all the different types of questions that can be asked, you have to actually understand the basic theory behind solving systems of linear equations and the types of solutions that are possible.

Regardless of what mode of study your enrolled in, surely you get notes. And those notes would include the theory that is required to understand how to tackle questions like this, or at least sufficient theory to provide you with relevant key words that you can use for a Google search. It is not the role of MHF to provide on-line tuition. The role of MHF is to provide help with specific questions. That help has been amply given in this thread.
