    simplifying with fractions

    3xy/2 * 4/6x^2

    I've tried some various methods to this like cross multiplying but can't seem to come up with the answer y/x

    Since this is just a fraction multiplying a fraction you can put all the stuff on the top in both fractions on one line and same with the bottom.

    So we get...

    \frac{3xy}{2} \cdot \frac{4}{6x^2} = \frac{3xy \cdot 4}{2 \cdot 6x^2} = \frac{4 \cdot 3xy}{12x^2} = \frac{12xy}{12x^2}.

    Now the 12's cancel and we can cancel one x from the top and bottom line leaving us with...

    \frac{y}{x}
