I can work the second part out but powers have never been my strong subject.

    What is the second part?

    I am sure you know 26 -25 -1 = 0
    So, 16^(26 -25 -1) = 16^0
Then, any number raised to zero is equal to 1
    so, 16^(26 -25 -1) = 16^0 = 1 -----answer.

    --------------
Or do you mean this way?:
    16^(26 -25 -1)
    = 16^(26 -26)
    = 16^26 *16^(-26)
    = 16^26 *1 / 16^26
    = 16^26 / 16^26
    = 1
