    Isolating or finding the inverse of an Exponential Function

    So I have the function x=2^y

    How do I rearrange for y in this case? What are the steps?

    x=2^y?

    base = b = 2

    exponent = y

    convert it to the logarithmic form

a^b= c \Rightarrow b = \log_ac<br />
