1. ## can someone please tell me if my answers are correct

1. write the relationship of 8 cubic feet to 3 cubic feet as a ratio: answer 8:3
2. write as a ratio in simplest form: 12 cubic feet to 16 cubic feet. answer 3:4
3. solve for the unknown in the proportion: x/4=2/3 answer 8/3
4. solve for the unknown in the proportion: y/3=3/4 answer 9/4
5. solve for the unknown in the proportion 5/2x=3/6 answer 5
6. a taxpayer pays a state tax of $600 on an income of$24,000. what is the proportional tax on an income of $36,000? answer$9,000
7. a consumer report has determined that 2 out of 5 sedan owners have an SUV as well. how many SUV owners are there among 50,000 sedan owners? answer 20,000
8. we want to cover a wall with 200 sq ft of acoustic material. each 16 sq ft panel costs $50. what is the cost to cover the entire wall? answer$625
in a table where y varies directly as x what is the missing value? x 3 5 8 14 and y 9 __ 24 42 answer 15
9. if y varies as x for the expression: f(x) = 4x, then four is the constant of variation, (k). answer true
10. express the chance you have of getting heads in a coin toss with a fair coin as a probability. answer 1/2 seemed pretty simple but the choices were 2/25, 2/1, 1/2, or 20% i thought it might of been some kin of trick question
11. if a single six-seded die is thrown, what is the probability of getting a 5 or a 6? answer 2/5
12. if y varies inversely as x, and k= -24, what is y when x=6? answer -14
13. if y varies directly as x, and y = 1/3 when x=4, write an equation for this relationship: answer y=4/3x

All seem correct except.

6. is 900 not 9000.
12. I believe inversely implies $y=\frac{1}{-24}x\mbox{ therefore when }x=6\\\mbox{ then }y=-\frac{6}{24}=-\frac{1}{4}$
13. $\frac{1}{3}=k4\mbox{ and solve for k and put it into y=kx form}$

3. on 12 that's not one of my choices, i have either -36, -4, -13, or -14 but thanks for the rest...are u sure i had all the others correct?

4. For 12. If y is inversely proportional to x it may be rewritten mathematically as

$y = \frac{k}{x}$ (where k is a constant)

$y = -\frac{24}{6} = -4$

I don't know how you'd get -14 from 24 and 6

Yes the others are fine but be sure to show 13 as $\frac{4}{3}x$ as 4/3x can be interpreted as $\frac{4}{3x}$

thanks...i didn't know how to type it like that..is there some code or special way to type it like that?
