5 = 2x + 3y/3x +5y
how do i isolate for x/y ?
Thanks
I'm assuming ...
$\displaystyle 5 = \frac{2x+3y}{3x+5y}$
$\displaystyle 15x + 25y = 2x + 3y$
since $\displaystyle y \ne 0$ , divide every term by $\displaystyle y$ ...
$\displaystyle 15\cdot \frac{x}{y} + 25 = 2 \cdot \frac{x}{y} + 3$
$\displaystyle 13\cdot \frac{x}{y} = -22$
$\displaystyle \frac{x}{y} = -\frac{22}{13}$
