    Sum and Quotient

    I'm not sure how to go about this, but it seems like it should be somewhat easy.

    Find the two numbers whose sum is 76 and quotient is 18.

    Possible solutions:
    12,64
    10,66
    8,68
    4,72

    x + y = 76

    And you want that x/y = 18

    x = 18y

    18y + y = 76

    19y = 76

    y = 4

    x + 4 = 76

    x = 72

    Thus, the two numbers are 72 and 4.
