Still Need HELP! Can any one solve this for "a" for the folowing values

a+((aex)/d) = ((cex)/d) + ((fex)/d) + b


a=?
b=14.3
c= -18.8
d=50.6
e=18
f=4.6
X=1

to solve just plug the values and find unknowns

Do you think you could show me a worked example? as it is a long time since i have had to do something like this.....and i am uncertain as "a" appears in the equation twice.....

Plug in numbers into their variables.

a+((a(18)(1)))/(50.6)=(((-18.8)(18)(1))/(50.6))+(14.3)

Solve by inner-most parenthesis first and then outward.

a+((18a)/(50.6))=((-338.4)/(50.6))+(14.3)

a+(180/506)a=(-3384/506)+14.3

add 'like'-fractions together

(506/506)a+(180/506)a=-(3384/506)+(7235.8/506)

(686/506)a=(3851.8/506)

a=(38518/5060)/(686/506)

Sorry numbers are huge but I don't have a calculator by me so that was the easiest way I could do it without wasting too much time. But if you plug in the last part in a calculator exactly it should give you the answer.

Thanks for that, i think you left out ((fex)/d) but i should be able to add it and follow it through.
