1. You got two directions: east-west, north-south. So take those distances separately.
Call east positive and west negative. 3km west means she travelled -3 in the e/w direction. Later on she went 6 km east which is +6 and then 3 west which is -3, so in the e/w direction she went -3 + 6 - 3 which is ... how far east or west of where she started?
Now do the same thing with the north-south direction, and see where she ends up either north or south of where she started.
Draw a picture, it may well help to understand what's going on here.
I'll let someone else do the fraction question because I can't do the explaining fractions bit any more, my brain burnt out.
