How is 12 not accurate in: (9*3)^(2/3)+(2*4)^(2/3)+-1^(2/3)

    What's the answer?

I just used a graphing calculator, a scientific calculator, and google to also get 12.

I used wolfram alpha though and it gave me plus or minus 13.

It was set up in a different way.

    ((9x3)^2/3+(2x4)^2/3) plus or minus 1^2/3

It depends on whether -1^(2/3) is understood to mean -(1^(2/3)) or (-1)^(2/3). The former is equal to -1, the latter is equal to 1.
