Percentage question #5
Sandy has 50% more money than Bradon. Bradon has 20% more money than Clement. After Sandy gives Bradon and Clement a total of \$350 and Bradon gives Clement \$400, the ratio of Sandy's money to Bradon's moneey to Clement's money becomes 1:1:3. How much money did Sandy give to Bradon?

Since Bradon is defined in terms of Clement and Sandy is defined in terms of Bradon, pick a variable for Clement, and work from there. (Wink)

start:
Clement: c
Sandy: 1.5(1.2c) = 1.8c

changes:
Sandy: 1.8c - 350
Bradon: 1.2c - 400 + s
Clement: c + 400 + (350 - s) = c + 750 - s

end:
(1.8c - 350) : (1.2c - 400 + s) : (c + 750 - s) = 1 : 1 : 3

Then:

1.8c - 350 = 1.2c - 400 + s

...and:

3(1.8c - 350) = c + 750 - s

Solve the resulting system of equations. :D
