...Hi. I have an equation problem I need some help with, it has me stumped and I am sure it is something very simple. The problem is:
A number, twice that number and one-fifth of that number are added. The result is 16, what is the number?
I tried and came up with the figure below, which is definitely wrong because the answer just doesn't fit.
x + 2x + (1/5)x = 16
3x + (1/5)x = 16
(16/5)x = 16
Try that, your fraction addition was a little off
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
