    2^3 = 8

    ----------------
    You know logarithmns?

    8 = 2^k
    Take the logs of both sides,
    log(8) = k*log(2)
    log(2^3) = k*log(2)
    3*log(2) = k*log(2)
    3 = k

    Really?

    Then do it the long way.
    2^1 = 2
    2^2 = 4
    2^3 = 8
    What then is k?
