finding expected value of a random variable!!

what is relationship between expectation & sample point of a random variable??..If the expectation of a randm variable (say X) is k.....how is it related to sample point??.does it mean that there is a sample point at which the X has value = k or < k or >= k...?

I'd say the only general relationship between expectation and sample point of a random variable is the formula for calculating expected value.

Consideration of the binomial distribution should immediately tell you that E(X) is not necessarily an element of the support of X.
