# Math Help - stats: chi-square test stat

1. ## stats: chi-square test stat

Solve the problem.

A coffeehouse wishes to see if customers have any preference among 5 different brands of coffee. A sample of 200 customers provided the data beolow. Calculate the chi-square test statistic χ² to test the claim that the probabilities show no preference.

Brand 1 2 3 4 5
Customers 30 55 65 18 32

how do i solve the problem?

2. If you have access to Excel, here's a tutorial on using it so you don't have to do the calc's by hand...which is explanatory at first and then painfully droll.

Also...

Vassar has some great links for online chi-test calculators.

The expected frequencies if there is no difference in preference are all 50.

Now see here for the $\chi^2$ test.
