    Population vs. Sample Size

    Is it possible for the sample statistic to be less than, equal to, or greater than the population paramenter?

    I would have thought the answer was obviously yes in all cases.

    Consider collecting a set of data from a normal population and look at the sample mean. Obviously you can get data sets where the sample mean is less, equal to or greater than the population mean.
