1. ## Compute the probability of the min. of some RV.

Take $N$ balls, number them $1, ...,N$ with a pen, and put them in a bag. Then draw n of them with replacement, recording the numbers $X_1, ..., X_n$.

Question: What is the distribution of $X = max(X_1, ..., X_N)$, and $Y = min(X_1, ..., X_N)$?
I have literally no idea how to start this. Can someone give me the first step, or the formula to use?
