My best guess is :

The sum of two random variables, one normally distributed with mean $\mu_1$ and standard deviation $\sigma_1$, the other with mean $\mu_2$ and standard deviation $\sigma_2$, is normally distributed with mean $\mu_1+ \mu_2$ and standard deviation $\sqrt{\sigma_1^2+ \sigma_2^2}$.

What, exactly, is the statement of the problem? Your reference to "1050" and "1150" indicates that you are finding the probability a value is "within 50 points of the mean 1100" but what you have written is simply "less than 50" which is far from 1100!
