Comparing Variances of the Sample Means

    Hi,

"Suppose that two populations have equal population variances but have different sizes: N_1=100,000, N_2=10,000,000 . Compare the variances of the sample means for a sample of size n=25 . Is it easier to approximate the mean of a smaller population?"

    Where do I even begin?

    Hey SC313.

What do the N's refer to? (Are you dealing with finite populations as opposed to infinite ones)?

    Hi Chiro!

    N is the population size N_1=10,000, N_2 is 10,000,000 .

    And the populations are finite!

    Thanks!
