    simple random sampling- E(X)

    What does the terminology

    E(Xi) = u(i=1,...,n)

    mean?

Where u is mu (the mean of all the values for x.)

I haven't seen this terminology before...does it imply u times all the i's?

We will need the rest of the context to be sure but assuming that X_i,\ i=1,..n denotes a random sample from the some population with mean \mu then the expectation of each of the X_i's is \mu.
