If you are taking a random sample, then the variance of the sum is just the sum of the variances.
Have been working to figure this one out but keep getting the wrong answer.
The mean load of a container shipped by the Container Shipping Company is 2300 kg with the standard deviation of 140 kg. Compute the probability that the total weight of a shipment of 130 containers shipped by the Container Shipping Company is less than 297563 kg:
Here's what I did so far: Mean total load= 2300*130= 299000
I'm not sure what the standard deviation would be for the total load so I can't find out the Z-score to get the probability it falls within this range.
