how would test whether the Mu of males = Mu of females (means)

and my data set is 0 = male and 1 = females.

I am really stuck on how to test whether the mean of a BINOMIAL VARIABLE (0s and 1s). I know that I can use z-test if I use proportions but I want to test the means here, how would I do that?

a sample proportion is just a sample average of 0's and 1's.
I'd need more info, mainly on the sample sizes.
If they are large then you can use the CLT and approxinate via the normal distribution.
Otherwise you have to use the binomial distribution.
