I'm wanting to do an analysis in SPSS - I'm not entirely sure what the analysis is called though.
I have data and want to see if a variable (with a value of either 0 or 1) affects the observation.
So far I've come up with Y(hat)[COLOR=rgb(0, 0, 0)]i = b0 + b2X2 i
where Y = starting salary
b0 = average starting salary for men
b2 = difference between average starting salary for men & women
X2 = 0 or 1, dependent on if it's a man or woman (I've nominated men as 0 and women as 1)
My textbook only goes through and gives the answers, it doesn't say "this is the type of analysis to do" or "this is how you use SPSS to do it". So does anyone know how to do it or even, know what the specific formula is called so I can research how to do it?
