Thread: Remove faulty measuments.

Hello everybody,
-Let's say that have some sensor measuring one quantity (eg. temperature) in an room area. Some typical values might be 21,25,20,19,24.

-Assume now that one sensor is faulty and starts transmitting faulty values like (-10,100,5,14).

-Is it possible somehow to recognize these faulty transmissions? If yes how this method called in statistics?

Data censoring or outlier removal are possibilities, but a bit more detail of the set up would help.
