Thread: Help with a Linear Regression project please!

So here is a link to the problem. I have done a scatterplot on it, but it seems like a VERY weak correlation. .6 I believe. I cannot figure out what to do next and she gave us this report which is due for monday. How do I stucture a repot on this regression? And what is the equation for the ax+b=c?

The first thing you should do would be to choose which is your independent variable and which is your dependent variable...

I.e. would you be using forearm length to try to predict height, or would you be using height to try to predict forearm length?

Agreed, that is a good start. Also, as a side note, a correlation of 0.6 is not weak, but most would consider it a "moderate" correlation.

Thank you. I have decided that the forearm bone will predict the height. Although I did scatterplots on both and the Weight to height seems more accurate?

What do you mean by more "accurate"? The correlation was higher, higher p-value, or by some other measure? You are correct on choosing forearm bone length to predict the height, but I saw no data on weight, so I can't comment on that.

Have you drawn a scatterplot? Does it look like a line would fit the data well? Or do you think some other curve would be better?
