No, Euler is a basic matrix language (the great idea behind Matlab), without
all the accretions of Matlab

is Euler available to the general public? if so, can you provide a link to where i can find it (obviously if i search for Euler i will get webpages about the mathematician Euler)

Sadly this does not work too well (at least for the test problem that I
tried) too many local false minima.

In my opinion, R is the best program for nonlinear regression and statistics in general.
