# Thread: Distribution for mean of a sample

1. ## Distribution for mean of a sample

Every year the pH-value is measured in several lakes in an area. The pH-value in the lakes is normal distributed with expected value = 6 and standard deviation 0,25. A scientist randomly selects 4 lakes and measures the pH in these. What is the distribution for the mean of the sample? (X with a _ on top)

Thanks!

The formula for the sampling distribution of the mean will be in your class notes, textbook and can also be easily found using Google. Where are you stuck?

3. Haha, sorry for asking what is probably very easy questions. I was sick and home from school last week, and I just can't seem to find the information I need from my extremely bad textbook. But all right, I'll see if I can google it.
