An auther claims that 55% of the households in England support the consultation of a new rail line. Peter believes that the proportion of supporters is higher than 55%. He decides to test the clain by using the following procedure.
First, 100 randomly-selected households will be interviewed
Second, the number of supporters will be recorded
Finally, the claim will be rejected if the number of supporters is greater than 60
(ignore the continuity correction)
1) write down null and alternative hypothesis
I answered this as: Ho:u = 55
H1:u > 55
But confused whether or not it is Ho:u = 60
H1:u > 60
2) Find the level of significance of Jane's test
Have no idea on this - HELP
3) Find the power of Peter's test when the true proportioon of supporters is 60%
