Why is k=12 in XS24 b, 2 (1)?

This was my work.

$\int_0^{\frac {1}{2}} kx^2+1 dx$

$=k \bigg [ \frac {1}{3}x^3 +x \bigg ]_0^{\frac {1}{2}}$

$=\frac{13}{24} k$

$\therefore k=\frac {24}{13}$

Crap, I just realized my mistake. I can't factor out the k.
