Why is k=12 in XS24 b, 2 (1)?
This was my work.
$\displaystyle \int_0^{\frac {1}{2}} kx^2+1 dx$
$\displaystyle =k \bigg [ \frac {1}{3}x^3 +x \bigg ]_0^{\frac {1}{2}}$
$\displaystyle =\frac{13}{24} k$
$\displaystyle \therefore k=\frac {24}{13}$
