    [SOLVED] Probability density function problem

    Why is k=12 in XS24 b, 2 (1)?

    This was my work.

    \int_0^{\frac {1}{2}} kx^2+1 dx

    =k \bigg [ \frac {1}{3}x^3 +x \bigg ]_0^{\frac {1}{2}}

    =\frac{13}{24} k

    \therefore k=\frac {24}{13}

    Crap, I just realized my mistake. I can't factor out the k.
