    String Theory and subtopics

Okay, I've been reading (aka skimming) my String Theory text and I had a revelation. Most of the work in the book seems to be an intermeshing of Algebraic Topology and Differential Geometry. That I can even recognize that is an impressive feat for me because I know little about either field of study.

However I am sensing something more... Is there some kind of connection between AT and DG themselves or is it simply that my String Theory text is working the two fields together?

    You've heard of Nima Arkani-Hamed?

Algebraic geometry and it's applications to scattering amplitudes was a focus of his for a while.
