max playtime player = x (they get full money)
player playtime = y
(y/x) . (max money - min money) + min money
Hiya mathhelpforum, i'm not to great with math, but i've got a huge problem and wasnt exactly sure where to post this, so i chose "other" and i think this also might be quite tricky/impossible.
Well, basically i run a server on minecraft which has an economy per say. whereby each player has virtual "coins". I'm going to a different map and these players coins are a little unfair due to people spawning them self's these coins which has been fixed now. So for this new map, instead of just giving each player a big fat 0 coins or giving them a specific amound based solely on rank, (some people have been here for months and have spent allot of time getting this money, which is unfair as some have been a rank longer than others) i thought it would be a good idea to create some sort of formula based on their rank/play time.
the ranks are as follows.
nobleman - baron - earl - duke
and was feeling
nobleman's should receive between 5'000 and 50'000
barons should receive between 10'000 and 100'000
earls 50'000 and 500'000
duke 100'000 1'000'000
with the variable being their playtime, so max playtime being the top number and minimum being bottom number. What i need is some sort of formula to work out what member should receive what, if i can get a formula i can just punch it in a spreadsheet and that can do all the number crunching, as i have over 3500 members.
