[SOLVED] I don't even know where to begin...HELP PLEASE!
So here's my problem:

I want to do some work with collective intelligence and use it to make predictions. For example, say I have 50 people each rate 20 foods on a 1-10 scale...then I have a 51st person who rates only 10 of those foods on a 1-10 scale. I'd like to be able to predict what he's likely to rate the remaining 10 foods based on how the 10 ratings he's already supplied compare with the ratings of the first 50 people who rated all 20 foods.

I have no idea where to begin (I could come up with some algorithms, but I'm sure a significant amount of work has already been done on this subject and I'd rather not waste time reinventing the wheel).

Does anyone know what FIELD of mathematics my question pertains to? Is anyone able to write some sort of algorithm to solve such problems? Where can I go for help?

Multilinear regression might be what you are looking for.
