Thread: Inclination

Please assist,Member.xls I need to determine the inclination of a vertical member. I have four readings from North, East, South, and West the offset from the vertical.

It's basically a pole where the reading have been taken accurately around the base. The client wants to know the inclination, see attachment for figures.

How can I calculate the inclination?

As you have guessed I am not a mathematician.

Couple of comments.

1. Could you please draw a picture of the physical situation here? I don't find your explanation of the problem very understandable. Include units for all the numbers!
2. Isn't starboard up the same motion as port side down?
