Thread: Math essay ideas

Not really sure where to post this one.

One of my math modules is a history of course and we have to write an essay. Its been many years since I wrote an essay but Im just struggling to come up with a good topic.
I have two ideas so far; how every day maths has changed since ancient times to modern times (or something similar) or how reliable are statistics (ie in blood/dna matching for use in a murder trial, etc)

I would be interested in hearing some other ideas if anybody can enlighten me!

What constitutes "proof", and what does the community actually accept and or use.

If it turns out OK consider submitting it for the MHF-zine.
