Elastic strings
Two elastic strings both of natural length 1.5m and moduli 8N and 6N respectively are joined together at both ends. One end of the combined string is fixed and a particle of mass 2kg is attached to the other end and hangs in equilibrium with the string vertical. Calculate the tension in each string.

Answer given is 11.2N and 8.4N

Thanks.

What do you mean by "moduli"? My first though was "modulus of elasticity" or "spring constant" but that is not measured in Newtons.

Moduli is the plural of modulus. It's the modulus of elasticity.
The unit given by the book is Newton. It's from Mechanics 3 from Edexcel A-levels.
