Heilp with flattening a 3D spline?
This is kind of hard to explain but I will try. I am trying to make a formula to plot the points of a 3D spline that needs to be flattened. I work for a cabinet company and we do wood hoods that are curved on the front and curved on the ends. Where these compound curves meet is the spline. Of course we can't cut the part while it is in 3D so I need to flatten the part, cut grooved in the back so it will curve, and then plot the points. I need to be able to figure out the exact shape of the spline so we don't have gaps where the plywood meet.
Can anyone shed some light on this subject. Here is an example of what I need for this company. If anyone needs more explination I will be glad to provide it. I ill bve able to send it via e-mail. Thanks in advance,

Do you want to find some formula (like a polynomial) that approximates the new spline?
