Hi, this is my first post on this forum.
I have joined hopefuly for help from people regarding maths problems and maybe I could help some people my-self.
I am interested in CFD and numerical methods but my maths at present is not up to scratch to be able to do much within these fields. My aim is to get very competent in the relevant maths disciplines so I can write and modify my own and existing CFD codes and other numerical method stuff.
I am going through the usual maths route myself at present, going back through calculus stuff at a fairily low level, making sure I am comfortable with all aspects. Its funny that if I'm working on a topic, I can do all examples fine so move on to another area, if I were to then go back a few weeks later, I would have forgotten for a while what I did previous.
I am a very reputable engineer in the automotive industry so I remember long equations and can derrive pretty complex equations from first principles but most of this stuff is not difficult maths but rather understanding the variables and what can affect the system. But I can't remember a lot of calculus methods for a long period, I guess maybe cos I just don't use them everyday. I can remember the product, chain rule and them types but not some of the others
If anyone has any advice, that would be very welcome.
Or a couple of fairly straight-forward problems for me to attempt.
Thanks a lot.
