applied harmonic analysis

i am really struggling in this course and don't know where to begin.
if anyone could give me some hints or leads it would be greatly appreciated.
we don't really have a text and we just finally got a course outline that our professor wrote himself.
and even though i am an excellent note taker, i have hardly any due to the nature of my instructors teaching style.
