## A_n simple for n>4

It turns out you can do better. It is easy to show $\displaystyle A_5$ is simple with the Sylow Theorems; however, it is also true that $\displaystyle A_n$ is simple for $\displaystyle n \geq 5$.

It is kind of involved, but here is a pretty easy to follow proof that I found for you. PlanetMath: simplicity of the alternating groups
