    Is this correct?

    f(x)=(x-2)/(x^2-2)
    x^2-2=0
    x^2=2
    x=sqrt2

    It depends what you've been asked to do. Find the solutions of f(x)=0? If so, does x=sqrt(2) make f=0? To make f=0 you want to make the top line (numerator) zero.
