    Linearly independent/dependent

    Determine if each of the following sets of vectors is linearly independent or linearly dependent.

    (a)
    v1 = [3 1 0] , v2 = [1 2 1] , v3 = [4 3 1].

    (b)
    v1 = [1

    0
    0]
    v2 = [0
    2
    1]
    v3 = [1
    0
    1]

    Not sure how you determine that ... thanks!

    For (a) v1 + v2 = v3

    (b) Show that if av_1 + bv_2 + cv_3 = 0, then a=b=c=0 by solving a system of simple linear equations.
