Can anybody help me with this question?:

"Show that for every vector space V and every element v E V the opposite element is unique: if v + x = x + v = 0 and v + y = y + v = 0, then x = y"

(Just to get you started) you know that v+x = v+y. Therefore x+(v+x) = x+(v+y).
