Let $\displaystyle A[x]$ be the ring of polynomials in one indeterminate over a ring $\displaystyle A $. Prove that $\displaystyle A[x] $ is a flat $\displaystyle A$-algebra.

What does it mean flat algebra? There is no such term when I searched for it on the internet.
The book doesn't even define it, but expects you to solve a problem with the term in it. This is from an Introduction to Commutative Algebra by Atiyah
