Definition of a dot in economics paper

    Hello guys

I am currently writing my bachelor thesis and I am using the Paper "Indirect Taxes on International Aviation". I have to understand the mathematical model used in this paper and i encountered a definition I don't understand. My question is what do the authors mean with the dot for the marked definition for sigma. Is it the sign for a multiplication?
    Thank you for your help

I'm going to guess it's just multiplication.
