Thread: Linear simultaneous equations help please ;O

Heya!

I need help in how to do this equation. I need to find both x and y.

I tried to multiply the top line with -2, then add both of the lines up, (which would cancel out the -6 and 6: so I'm left with the y's), but I end up with this negative, decimal answer, after working everything out. It doesn't seem right.

So could you guys help me solve it? Thanks! =]

3x + 2y = 22
6x + 5y = 46

3x + 2y = 22 => -6x - 4y = -44 .... (1)

6x + 5y = 46 .... (2)

(1) + (2): -6x - 4y + 6x + 5y = -44 + 46 => y = 2.

No problem from where I'm looking at it ......
