1. ## Find the value of x such that vector PR = PS.

Hi everyone.

Hoping I can get some help here. I'm fairly confident with Q1 (a) and (c) but not sure how to approach question (b). Do I set it up like a normal absolute value equation with both an x and y variable or do I need to take another approach? For anyone who wants to help, I'll save you the trouble of the first step:

PR=-3i+3j
PS=2i

Any help would be appreciated

Hint - Set up an expression for the distance in terms of the vectors and try and solve for the unknown.

Hey chiro, is q1 b a simpler version of q1 c or something else entirely? I know how to find the magnitude of each vector but don't really get how to 'solve for x' =/. I've attached my working for both q1 b and c below.

Okay so I tried:

PR+RS=PS.

This was (-3x+3y)+(5x+3y)=2x

Both sides simplify to zero. I've probably done something wrong here so I'm going to keep working on it, but if anyone has any tips I'm still here .

Sorry guys, I'm meant to make |PR| = |PS|, not PR = PS.
