# Math Help - general equation of a plane.

1. ## general equation of a plane.

hey there, just wanting to check whether this is correct...

Consider a plane passing through points:
P(1, 3, -2) Q(1, 1, 5) R(2, -2, 3)

Find the general equation of the plane........

My answer was....25x + 7y - 2z = 22 <--- is this correct???

thanks

By now you obviously know that it wasn't. But you know that earlier on, when you didn't know and therefore asked, you could have checked by substituting each point and seeing whether or not (not in this case) they all satisfied your answer. Then you would know to go back and find the mistake. That's what you obviously should do in an exam ......

5. thanks for the tip..that never crossed my mind...
