I cannot figure this problem out! I need step-by-step instructions on how to solve it...I have tried so many different times! It is a quadratic formula equation: 1/4x² -1/28x-13/14=0

This is ambiguous...

Is it:

$\displaystyle \frac{1}{4x^2} - \frac{1}{28x} - \frac{13}{14} = 0$

or

$\displaystyle \frac{1}{4} x^2 - \frac{1}{28} x - \frac{13}{14} = 0$ ?

If the former, as above, multiply through by $\displaystyle 28x^2$, and use the quadratic formula and if the latter, just use the quadratic formula (still multiply by 28 to make things a bit easier):

If $\displaystyle ax^2 + bx + c = 0 \implies x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}$
