# Math Help - Projection and Normalizing

1. ## Projection and Normalizing

Hello,

I have a question as one question is saying to find the orthonormal basis. I have done so. I used the Gram-Schmidt to find the orthogonal basis. Now I have to use projection and I am wondering do you have to use the original orthogonal basis or do you use the vectors from the orthonormal basis? Or do you use either one, depending on what the question specifies?

Without knowing what the question is, I suggest you use the orthonormal basis. Much easier in general, but depends what your projection is onto.

Gram-Schmidt Process should already yield an orthonormal basis.
