    Max value

    if y = (x)/(x^2 + mod(x-1)) then what is the max value of y?

    By "mod(x-1)" do you mean $\displaystyle y=\frac{x}{x^2+|x-1|}~?$

    Draw a graph.
    You will see that if $\displaystyle x\le 0$ then $\displaystyle y\le 0~.$

    Is it true that if $\displaystyle x>0$ then $\displaystyle x^2+|x-1|\ge x~?$
